Find out how to use GigaWatch here

How to install?

Guide image

1. Install GigaWatch on computers you want to monitor.

On the computer you want to monitor, download GigaWatch which you can find on our download page here: http://www.gigawatch.com/download.php (you can also use a pendrive to copy GigaWatch setup program to other computers). When you launch the setup program, you will be asked whether you want to monitor this computer, view recorded data on this computer or both. Tick the options you want and proceed with installation by pressing the "Next" button (you can also view logs on computer you're monitoring). Setup program will install all necessary files and create the Windows service which will launch automatically when Windows starts.

2. Set monitoring password for this computer.

When installation completes and you ticked the option to monitor this computer, you will be asked to set up the password for this computer. You'll be required to enter this password in GigaWatch main application later in order to download all recorded information stored on this computer. This is a security precaution that will allow syncing with this computer only if you know the password that you've set up. Keep in mind that it's not possible to reset the password if you happen to forget it, so remember it well or write it down somewhere safe. You'll need to type in your password twice in order to minimize the risk of typos. Press "Save" when you're ready.

3. GigaWatch is ready to use.

At this point you should have monitoring module or main application successfully installed and the recording has started. There is no need to restart your computer. If you chose to install the administrating application, you'll find a shortcut to it in your Start Menu or on your desktop. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each computer you want to monitor.

How to get started in GigaWatch?

Guide image

1. Set up your Master Password.

The first time you launch GigaWatch application, you'll be asked to set up your Master Password. Once you set it up, you'll be asked to enter in every time you launch GigaWatch. This password is used as a security precaution, so that only you will have access to any recorded data that you download from monitored computers. Keep in mind that it's not possible to reset the password if you happen to forget it, so remember it well or write it down somewhere safe. You'll need to type in your password twice in order to minimize the risk of typos. Press "Save" when you're ready.

2. Add monitored computers.

Once you see GigaWatch interface, you'll need to add computers from which you'll download recorded data. The computers you want to monitor are most likely on your local area network. GigaWatch implements a very easy way to automatically detect all computers on your network that have GigaWatch monitoring module installed. Press the "Probe Network" button in the toolbar menu to open the computer probing panel.
Guide image

3. Probe your network.

Probe Network is a nifty built-in tool to detect all computers on your network (local computer as well) which have GigaWatch monitoring module installed and add each detected computer to the list of monitored computers in GigaWatch. Press the "Probe" button and it should fill up the list with computers it detected. It is also imporatnt to note that if you have computers on your network with dynamic IP as opposed to static IP, you don't have to worry. Each time you probe computers, it will detect if the IP address of each computer has changed since the last probe and it will update the address to the new one if the change is detected. Generally that means, you don't need to worry about properly setting up your network configuration in order to use GigaWatch. GigaWatch will automatically adapt with a click of a button.

4. Syncing data.

When you're ready to retrieve data from any of the monitored computers in your list, select it by clicking the left mouse button and then click "Sync Computer" button in the toolbar menu or the small icon above the list of computers. Now if you haven't set up the password to sync with this computer, you will be prompted to do so. Remember when you had to set up the password when you installed the monitoring module on the computer with which you sync? That's exactly the same password you have to type in now. If you make a mistake, you can always edit computer settings by clicking the small "Edit Computer" icon above the computer list.
If the password matches, you should see GigaWatch downloading recorded data from the monitoring module installed on selected computer.

6. Select days.

You can pick different days by clicking them in the calendar and the recorded information for the selected day will be loaded up as soon as the click is made.

7. Select date range.

Instead of selecting each day one by one, you can choose to show recorded information from the range of days. Just click the "View selected dates" icon in the toolbar menu and pick "From" and "To" dates.
